Today I decided to write about writers block.  Now when I first started writing, I pumped out many first drafts in a short period of time – which I am now suffering for because of the ridiculous amount of editing to do! – so the idea of writers block seemed absurd to me.

Now there will be many who read this and say hey, there is such a thing and though I’m not entirely convinced, I do believe that one’s muse can go walkabout.

Mine did.  I participated in NaNo and found the ‘forced’ or required writing stifling.  I didn’t make the NaNo target and I haven’t written much since.  I am the type of writer who only writes when inspired.  When the muse promptly arrives and takes over I could write for days without a breath but when it has packed and gone on holiday then not much happens.

So is this writer’s block?  I don’t know.  It could be.  Since NaNo my muse visited but hasn’t made the permanent residence it usually does thus why I have four WIP’s.

The good thing about the ‘block’ if that is what it is, is I edit.  Those rough drafts – all four that need to progress to second draft – get a red pen (or in my case pretty purple) workout.  I guess I’m still being constructive yet I can’t help be worried about my muse’s absence.

So to overcome this ‘dry’ spell as I think I will call it (don’t like that block word) I am blogging, getting the juices flowing without worrying too much about the drivel I may produce and wait for the muse to return home.
