Writers I know Wednesday - Jessica Degarmo 04/19/2011
How to meet a guy at the supermarket This is a wonderfully fun romp and I couldn’t wait to turn the pages to find out what antics Quinn would adopt next. Jessica has come up with some wickedly funny and original ways for Quinn to snare a man. Then there is Shrimp Guy... oh sweetheart. There is a man right there in front of Quinn, coming to her rescue and she doesn’t see it. How frustrating but in a completely page turning, will she work it out kind of way. I related to Quinn and her search for a man far too much and felt the highs and lows with her. Especially the PMS cart incident! I giggled at the funny lines and felt disheartened when she did. I rode on the rollercoaster with Quinn and I didn’t want to get off and spent all of my morning reading it. I had to find out whom and how and when she would meet her guy in the supermarket and whether she would realise that ‘Shrimp Guy’ Trevor who becomes her best friend is the right man for her. Dating disasters and a ‘seems too good to be true’ guy turns out to be not so dreamy and the antics continue, riveting me to each page. Jason comes and doesn’t have any fire... all the while there is Trevor her friend... but I wanted to shake Quinn and say there he is right there and you did meet him in the supermarket as planned. This, of course, is Jessica’s aim and it builds the story and tension wonderfully well and I had to find out! Before I realised I’d finished reading this fun, relatable story. And yes it does have a happy ending with a lovely big sizzling finale. I give it four shower curtains for the passionate scene in the middle of a storm... swoon. Add Comment | AuthorI am Me...
