BiteMarks

BiteMarks was one of the first books I read when I joined authonomy and when it became published I jumped at the chance to download my copy and I was not disappointed, in fact quite the opposite.
 
This was a truly wonderfully written book and has become one of my favourites.  Many would think this book is about vampires and in a way it is but not in the true sense of the word.  I don’t want to give away too much of the storyline but this aspect is only one of many in this multi layered story.
 
It is about abuse and how different people do or don’t recover from it.  It is about the light and dark that can live in people and how they can overcome it or how they can just become dark.
 
This story had me turning pages over and over to find out what would happen next.  The characters in this are complex and endearing and Drew is able to slowly dish out the suspense and story so that it has you wanting more, wanting to know what happens next.  How Shane Marks came to be the character he is and how the investigation would turn out.  Added to this was my little crush on Shane and I found him engaging and his darkness simply made him more likable.  The other memorable character in this book is his partner, Marcus.
 
Not only was the story suspenseful and the characters rich but Drew paints a vivid tapestry as he guides us through Shane’s life with poetic prose.  This is one of those books I wish I had written.  
 
If you can handle a little blood and want an enchanting story then Bitemarks is for you.

The only negative thing I can say about this story – it had to end!
